At a Wedding

I recently attended a wedding and thought that I’d share what I wore there.

Since I am not native to American culture, I did do some research on what to wear to a wedding before I went, and here is what I found: basically, we should look decent but not too eye catching, because it is the bride’s day and she should be the center of attention. So when it comes to dressing ourselves, we should avoid pure white dress, and dresses that are overly bright in color and sexy in design:). Black dress used to be a “No’ item, but nowadays people are totally fine with it.

While I have many black dresses, I picked this dark blue Ochirly dress that my cousin bought me a couple years ago. Its modest color and girly cut makes it a perfect choice for a casual garden wedding.

Simply Summer

Summer in Minnesota is short, but very comfortable; we only barely got above 90 degrees for maybe one day this year. I seek every opportunity to wear a dress, either when going out on a date with hubby, or just going for a short walk on a weekend evening. For the latter situation, I opt for cotton dresses that are simple and casual, which make me feel summer, and feel girly:)

Fly With the Red Wing

After 7 years, I finally visited this small ancient town less than one hour drive away, and can’t figure out how it escaped from my tour list for so many years. This town was filled with huge flower baskets, ancient and colorful buildings, and romantic couples who were sitting by the riverside and waiting to get one their weekend getaway cruise.

The last time I wore this dress was 6 years ago when I attended a colleges’ wedding. It felt just right to wear it again since I sensed the same romance and love flowing in the air…

Short and Sweet

The labor day long weekend was short and already over. Although it was very nice and sweet, I almost felt that I needed another weekend to recover from it:) Instead of going out and shooting a full set of blog photos, we tried some indoor shooting at home, very different and very fun!

There Are High Low Places in Life

Most often, I shop and pick out my clothes by browsing random items that impress me. However, after I saw a high-low dress appearing in a TV series, I have been dedicated to owning one. When I have something in mind, shopping becomes harder because the things I find are never exactly the same as I imagined them to be:P After looking for a while in vein, I spotted a lady wearing one that is close to my imagination, and she pointed me to Forever 21. Here comes my first high-low dress--ideally, I want one with a pure light color, but with the price tag, I guess I can deal with the floral pattern:)

As Pretty as White

I have a tendency to be drawn to white clothing—how can I not? White is so pretty that most brides wear white gowns on THE day. My most recent white dress is by Calvin Klein. I love the simple cut yet elegant and feminine details.

When I wear white, I feel I can throw in some colorful accessories without complicate things. This rainbow beach bag (as a purchase with purchase from Clinique), and Kork Ease wedge sandals go perfectly with my white dress to create a casual and relaxing yet romantic look:)

Fire Up the Independence Day

As I promised, here comes the post regarding my independence day:)

It has almost become a tradition since a few years ago that my hubby and I spend our independence day somewhere close to waters, like Duluth (lake superior), Chicago (navy prier), or Wisconsin dells (the water park). Since the world cup is going on, we decided to stay closer to home this year (so we don’t miss too much games) and go to our never-failing easy-to-access scenic town lake city.

Since we almost come here every year, just to visit and chill, we no longer take as many photos as we did in the past, but it was no less fun to walk along the lake, watch all the boasts sailing in sunshine, and when tired and hungry, fire up and cook our favorite homemade BBQ meal in beautiful and relaxing Hok-si-la park.

Given we had so much rain recently, I felt really blessed to have a perfect day. I wish you could all feel the breeze:) Thanks for reading!
